Egg, Carrot, and the Coffee bean

This is a story that my friend had told awhile ago. For those that are going to study abroad, this is a good one that will keep you thinking at least for the next few minutes. I hope it does.

The Egg. What happens to the egg when you put it into a pot of hot boiling water? Obviously you're able to eat it later no matter it is half boiled or fully boiled. But what I'm trying to imply is this: The egg has hard shell but its inside will always be soft.

So, will you become the egg who looks tough from the outside but actually you're weak from the inside? Will you pretend that everything is OK even though you know it is not? You can tell people that you are happy, but you actually feel depress and hard to live with as though everything is against you.

The Carrot. Now what happens to the carrot when you put it into the boiling water? It becomes soft. You go in hard but come out soft and all cooked up. You are easily influenced by what is around you. I mean, we all must have dignity and a principle to live our lives. So if you are not strong enough, you might fall into the trap and come out as a piece of soft cooked carrot.

The Coffee Beans. Coffee beans and hot water gives you a nice cup of coffee. From mocha to cappuccino, kopi susu to yingyong. You go in as a coffee bean and what comes out is great. I'm not saying that you will succeed in life but try to think from another angle. You, the coffee bean, influence others around you and make them a better person out of themselves. You stand strong to your own principle and guide the people around you instead of being influenced.

So, will you become the egg, carrot, or the coffee bean?
